Welcome to Capri 🇮🇹
Capri — just saying the name brings back such dreamy memories. From the moment I caught my first glimpse of those towering cliffs rising out of the shimmering blue sea, I knew this island was something special. Arriving by ferry, with the salty breeze and the sparkling water all around, felt like stepping into another world — one filled with elegance, natural beauty, and that effortless Italian charm.
Exploring the narrow streets of Capri Town, everything felt so alive — the colorful boutiques, the scent of fresh lemons in the air, and the small piazzas where life seemed to slow down. But it was Anacapri that truly stole my heart. Sitting higher up on the island, Anacapri felt quieter, more peaceful, and even more breathtaking. Taking the chairlift up to Monte Solaro, the highest point on the island, was an experience I’ll never forget — the views were absolutely unreal, with the sea stretching endlessly below and Capri’s dramatic cliffs dropping into deep blue water.
I loved wandering Anacapri’s charming streets, where everything felt a little slower and a little more local — from artisan shops to hidden gardens filled with bursts of bougainvillea. Every moment felt light, sun-drenched, and full of joy. Capri wasn’t just beautiful — it had a feeling, a rhythm, that made me want to pause, soak it all in, and just be.
Even after leaving, I find myself dreaming about the golden light, the colorful houses perched high above the sea, and those peaceful walks through Anacapri’s quiet corners.
Capri didn’t just meet my expectations — it completely captured my heart. And I know one thing for sure: I’ll be back.

Ferry: Ferries and hydrofoils connect Capri to mainland cities like Naples, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, and Salerno. Marina Grande is the main ferry terminal on the island.
Buses: Capri’s ATC minibuses connect the main areas of the island, including Marina Grande (the ferry port), Capri Town, Anacapri, Marina Piccola, and the lighthouse at Faro. Buses are small, frequent, and affordable but can be crowded during peak hours.
Trams: There are no trams in Capri, but there is a funicular railway that runs from Marina Grande to Capri Town in about 5 minutes, offering beautiful views over the harbor.
Tickets: You can buy bus, funicular, and ferry tickets at Marina Grande, tabaccherias (tobacco shops), or at official ferry company counters. Bus and funicular tickets cost around €2.20 each; ferry prices vary depending on the route and ferry type.

✈️ Flights to Capri
Naples International Airport (NAP) is the main gateway for travelers heading to Capri, serviced by major airlines like ITA Airways, Lufthansa, British Airways, Air France, Emirates, KLM, and Ryanair. Direct flights connect Naples to major cities across Europe, North Africa, and some seasonal routes to North America and the Middle East.
Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is another major option for international travelers. If you land in Rome, you can take a high-speed train (about 1–1.5 hours) to Naples and then transfer to the ferry for Capri.
Rome Ciampino Airport (CIA) mainly handles low-cost and short-haul European flights, ideal for travelers flying with Ryanair, EasyJet, or Wizz Air.
Best Tip: If you want the smoothest journey, fly into Naples Airport (NAP) to minimize travel time to Capri. Ferries leave from Naples ports (Molo Beverello or Calata Porta di Massa) and reach Capri in about 50–70 minutes.
Cheapest Months: January, February, and November are typically the best months to find lower flight prices into Naples or Rome.

🌞 What I Wish I Knew Before Visiting Capri
Travel tips, first-timer mistakes, and things no one told me
Capri looks like a dream on Instagram — turquoise water, cliffside villas, lemon everything. And while it is magical, there are definitely a few things I wish I had known before stepping off that ferry. So if Capri is on your bucket list, here’s my honest take on what I wish I knew before visiting — so you don’t make the same mistakes.
1. ⛴️ Don’t Arrive with the Crowds
Most day-trippers show up around 10–11 a.m., making the port area feel chaotic. Arriving earlier (or staying overnight) gives you a whole different vibe — quiet, slow, cinematic.
✨ I share the best ferry time and where to stay overnight in my guide.
2. 💸 It’s Easy to Spend a Lot (But You Don’t Have To)
Capri has a rep for being expensive — and yes, it can be. But there are plenty of ways to enjoy the island on a budget if you know where to go.
💡 I list all my affordable food finds, beaches, and non-touristy experiences in the guide.
3. 🎟️ Book Ferries & Boats Ahead
I assumed I could walk up and hop on. Nope. In high season, ferries and boat tours sell out fast.
⛵ I included links to the ferry and my favorite boat tour company inside the guide.
4. 👟 Be Ready to Walk… a Lot
Capri has steep paths, stairs, and limited taxis (which are $$$). Good shoes are your best friend.
🥾 My guide includes a printable packing checklist so you don’t forget essentials.
5. 📍 The Best Spots Aren’t on Google Maps
Some of my favorite viewpoints, lemon groves, and cafes weren’t on any travel blog. I found them by wandering — and marked them for you 😉
6. ☀️ It Gets Hot — Plan Around It
Midday sun in Capri is no joke. Schedule your cliff walks, photoshoots, and hikes for the early morning or golden hour.
Final Thoughts
Capri is stunning, no doubt. But going in prepared — knowing when to go, where to wander, and how to skip the stress — makes the difference between a good trip and a magical one.
💙 Is Capri Worth Visiting? What No One Tells You
My honest take after visiting the island of dreams (and crowds)
Capri is that girl — glamorous, sun-drenched, and wrapped in Mediterranean magic. But beyond the stunning boat views and bougainvillea-lined streets, there are some things you might not hear about until you go. So… is Capri worth visiting? Short answer: yes. But here’s what I wish someone had told me before I went.
💫 The Magic Is Real
There’s a reason Capri has been a celebrity favorite since Roman times. The sea glows, the cliffs rise like art, and the air smells like lemons and saltwater.
Yes — it really is that beautiful. Especially once you get away from the crowds and take it in slow.
🧳 But It Can Feel… Overhyped (If You Don’t Plan Right)
Capri is no secret. In peak season, it’s packed. Day-trippers flood in by 10 a.m., and the main piazzas can feel more like Times Square than an Italian island.
But here’s the thing: if you know when to go and where to wander, Capri feels like a dream.
💸 It’s Pricey — But Not Impossible
From €12 cappuccinos to boat tours that cost more than your flight, Capri can be jaw-droppingly expensive. But not everything has to break the bank. There are hidden restaurants, budget ferry tricks, and even free experiences that feel luxe.
✨ I included my favorite cheap eats + how I did Capri without overspending in the full guide.
🌊 The Real Magic? What’s Off the Itinerary
It’s that cliffside lemon grove you found by accident. The sunset from a random bench. The quiet swim in a cove with no one else around. These moments — unscripted and untagged — are what make Capri unforgettable.
So… Is Capri Worth It?
If you’re chasing a place that feels cinematic, coastal, and a little over-the-top — absolutely yes.
But go with a game plan. Not just a Pinterest board.
